  • For 3+ years (including a master or PhD degree), you’ve been sharpening your skills and technical expertise in a professional setting, ideally with some experience in the consulting and private sector.
  • You are dedicated to the deep reduction of fossil resource use, and agrochemical application as well as the elimination of deforestation.
  • You have a good understanding or technical knowledge in carbon accounting, crop modeling, primary data gathering and especially LCA 
  • You are acquainted with GIS and remote sensing technologies to scale climate mitigation solutions for food/land systems
  • You have experiencing linking agriculture to different sustainability topics such as climate, water and biodiversity and know quantification methods in these fields
  • You get excited about guiding companies to understand and design transformative and science-based strategy.

Mandatory skills and experience

  • Master’s degree in Environmental engineering, agriculture, forestry or similar discipline
  • Fluent in English, German and/or French is a strong asset
  • 2 to 3 years of experience on sustainability topics, performing, managing, interpreting and communicating on results and sustainability topics
  • Strong knowledge of Life Cycle Assessment (LCA), agricultural modelling and corporate footprints 
  • Understanding of other sustainability metrics, tools and frameworks, such as GHG Protocol, Science-Based Targets initiative, etc.
  • Excellent knowledge of MS Excel, Word and PowerPoint
  • Experience with one of the LCA software tools (SimaPro is a strong asset)
  • Strong general quantitative and qualitative analytical skills
  • Ability to collect, process, manage and interpret data in a form understandable to audience with various levels of knowledge on sustainability
  • Thorough understanding of sustainability topics, services, market needs relevant to Quantis

Additional skills and experience

  • Scientific programming: knowledge of Python, Matlab, ArcGIS and willingness to keep developing skills in this area
  • Knowledge of non-environmental sustainability topics (social and governance)
  • Consulting experience or agriculture, sustainability or procurement position held within a large food company
  • Specific commodity experience (cocoa, coffee, soy, sugar, wheat, dairy, meat)

As a Sustainability Specialist in Land & Agriculture, here’s a preview of what type of work your days will look like

Technical execution of tasks in clients’ projects: 

  • Working on projects in Switzerland as well as on projects from all over the world in collaboration with Quantisians from other offices (Berlin, Boston, Paris, Milan)
  • Executing tasks within Sustainability Strategy projects
  • Performing product LCAs of various products and systems including complex novel technologies.
  • Calculating Corporate Carbon Footprint including advanced Scope 3 models
  • Performing carbon roadmap on various key commodities (i.e., modelling of farm-level specific interventions including Land Use Change activities)
  • Data collection from the client, its processing and management
  • Writing of reports and creation of presentations of results in clear, appealing and easily understandable manner
  • Supporting/managing clients’ interactions, such as project meetings/calls, workshops, suppliers’ engagement, etc.
  • Take an active role in the management of the projects

Some logistics to consider:

  • Location: Switzerland
  • Optimal start date: As soon as possible
  • Frequent collaboration with other Quantis branches (France, USA, Germany and Italy) via web-conferences
  • Ability to travel, primarily in Switzerland, and at times in Europe
