THE ROLE
The Branch Lead – Footprinting steers solutions development and delivery, knowledge management and training with regards to the Footprinting/LCA team in Germany, working in close collaboration with the Global Footprinting Lead.
The person acts as the point of contact in Germany for all Footprinting topics, regarding project sales and delivery, and manages the team (currently 4 people).
The person owns the team competency overview and recommends the right team member and team set up for given projects based on their seniority, competency, development needs and interests when possible. They recommend team sizing and competency evolutions versus branch business needs evolution in interface with country leadership team and key support functions.
The person is also responsible for leading and developing their people, ensuring team members are set up for success and focused on continuous improvement and growth while also guaranteeing scientific integrity and high quality project delivery; aligning clients’ needs with existing and new solutions offerings; and serving as the key representative of liaison of the branch to the Global community of expertise.
On top of your team leadership responsibilities, you will also:
- Be a Subject Matter Expert in Life Cycle Analysis, recognised internally and externally to provide expertise/practice inputs into projects
- Contribute master-level domain expertise while delivering enterprise-level transformational initiatives
- Develop credible, trusted relationships with senior client project contacts and proactively seek client executive sponsor exposure
- Play proactive, key role in sales processes for all Footprinting related project opportunities
You will be successful in your role if you:
- Can quickly dive in, understand client needs and shape relevant recommendations on LCA and Footprinting topics
- Creatively integrate and apply your expertise to meet unique, dynamic client needs in context of key accounts and transformative initiatives
- Efficiently create and apply innovative approaches to client sustainability problems and inspire client understanding in the rationale and direction needed to make transformative change
- Are seen as an effective team leader on projects and in the global footprinting community at Quantis
DOES THIS DESCRIBE YOU AND YOUR NEXT ROLE?
- You’re motivated to put your technical expertise to work towards aligning businesses with Planetary Boundaries, and you believe in the power of science to reach true sustainability.
- For 10+ years you’ve been sharpening your skills and technical expertise in a professional setting, ideally with some experience in the consulting and private sector.
- You have a strong experience working on sustainability topics. Experience in Chemicals or in our other key sectors (Food & Beverages, Cosmetics & Personal Care, Fashion & Sporting Goods) is a plus.
- A Master’s degree in Engineering, Environmental Science or a PhD degree involving significant conceptual and practical use of LCA is appreciated.
- You have a strong scientific background and a deep intellectual and business curiosity.
- You’re able to provide subject matter expertise on LCA topics, including technical analysis, modelling, and data management.
- You’re recognized as an expert, go-to thought leader on LCA and footprinting expertise and have a vision on how this field should evolve to transform businesses.
- You have strong leadership and project management skills and can organize work, motivate, empower, train, coach a group of people to deliver progress and achieve goals.
- You are at ease with managing multiple projects including significant projects at key account level.
- You have experience in collaborating with stakeholders at different levels to collectively address client inquiries, supporting the business development efforts by providing expert opinion on how to solve client challenges.
- You have an empowering approach and a strong interest in training and coaching colleagues.
- You communicate effectively in fluent English. Fluency in German is highly desirable.
- You have strong communication skills for external marketing positioning representing Quantis ( conferences, hosting webinars)
- You value rigor, transparency and pragmatism when it comes to providing actionable recommendations.
- You feel at ease within client organizations and can articulate complex demonstrations in simple and convincing terms in front of various audiences, including executives.
AS THE BRANCH FOOTPRINTING LEAD, HERE’S A PREVIEW OF WHAT TYPE OF WORK YOUR DAYS WILL INCLUDE:
- Developing the branch strategy for Footprinting, achieving the objectives and key results for the strategic offering, tracking project profitability and quality, and assessing how it contributes to branch P&L and strategy
- Playing a key role on complex client projects and perform Technical Control and Quality Control.
- Developing unique innovative solutions to address challenges related to Footprinting, collaborating with other Sustainability Experts and Sustainability Strategists.
- Ensuring internal consistency and excellence of the Quantis approach in Footprinting, maintaining and improving Quantis’ ability to market and sell the strategic offering,
- Identifying needs and implement actions to revise or expand on the deliverables or market positioning of the strategic offering, including relevant new innovations.
- Providing proposal review (QC/TC) of project opportunities, actively contributing to writing and pitching proposals
- Mentoring and guiding other consultants at any level, as needed
- Continuously improving and expanding Quantis’ development and implementation in the Footprinting area through the development with the business developers of outreaches, account management strategies and marketing initiatives.
- Developing and sharing Quantis’ thought leadership on LCA topics
SOME OTHER DETAILS TO CONSIDER:
- Location: Cologne/NRW or Berlin (flexible remote policy)
- Optimal start date: as soon as possible
- Punctual collaboration with other Quantis branches (US, Switzerland, Franceand Italy) via web-conferences
- Ability to travel occasionally
