Quantis will take part in SPC Impact, the annual conference organized by the Sustainable Packaging Coalition (SPC), which brings together industry experts, brands, and policymakers to discuss challenges and advancements in sustainable packaging.
This year, Quantis will contribute with a session on “Investigating the Use and Impacts of Emerging Alternative Materials.” As the packaging industry seeks alternatives to conventional materials—such as bio-based, compostable, and novel fiber-based options—it is essential to understand their full environmental impact. This session will explore methods for assessing the sustainability of these materials, considering factors such as life cycle emissions, resource use, end-of-life scenarios, and trade-offs compared to existing solutions.
By bringing a science-based approach to material evaluation, Quantis aims to provide insights into how alternative materials can be integrated responsibly into packaging strategies. The session will highlight key challenges, gaps in current assessments, and what companies should consider when making material choices.

Panel | Investigating the Use and Impacts of Emerging Alternative Materials
Tuesday, April 29, 2025, 9:00 AM-9:40 AM PT
In this introductory session, learn more about the variety of non-traditional materials emerging in the package industry, including bio-derived plastic alternatives and non-wood fiber sources. Understand how these materials impact the packaging life cycle and applications they may be best suited for. This session will dig into life cycle assessment data for these materials so attendees can better understand environmental tradeoffs and how to analyze these materials for environmental and social impact.
