Update to the Omnibus Directive agreement

Reading Time: 1 min

The European Parliament has voted in favor of the final Omnibus Directive agreement, introducing notable adjustments to the EU’s sustainability reporting landscape. While the package reduces certain reporting requirements and narrows the scope of CSRD, it also underscores an important reality: the need for credible, decision-useful sustainability information continues to grow.

Key shifts include:

  • Reduced reporting scope
  • Fewer mandatory ESRS datapoints
  • The removal of elements such as mandatory transition plans and civil liability.

For companies, this moment is an opportunity to strengthen the quality and governance of sustainability data, ensure environmental claims are well-substantiated, and reinforce the strategic foundations that support long-term transition plans — whether or not every element is mandated.
