Business guidance for deeper regeneration

Regenerative Agriculture Metrics: Climate chapter

In an effort to foster regenerative agriculture within the confines of planetary boundaries, the World Business Council for Sustainable Development (WBCSD) and the One Planet Business for Biodiversity (OP2B) coalition have initiated the Regenerative Agriculture Metrics (RAM) joint working group. The group aims to create a unified measurement system, overcoming barriers like inconsistent definitions, scattered data and the need for more inclusive participation from farmers and Indigenous communities.

With its members and partners, representing a network of 1,100 businesses, RAM strives to harmonize agricultural metrics across all levels to better integrate environmental, social, and economic aspects into corporate reporting. This initiative aligns with global efforts to address climate change, aiming to positively impact soil, biodiversity, water, and climate. The group is set on developing specific guidance for regenerative agriculture, ensuring a unified approach towards achieving a sustainable future in alignment with leading frameworks, including the Science Based Targets initiative Forest, Land and Agriculture Guidance (SBTi FLAG) and Greenhouse Gas Protocol (GHG P-LSR) and more.

This climate guidance publication was developed by WBCSD with the support of Quantis as a knowledge partner and is a first step in the work to align the remaining environmental and socio-economic outcomes later in 2024.
